New Goals

Last week I was talking to a friend, and she mentioned that she tries to update their blog once a week. I try to update ours once a month, but I know I should do it more often. I really want you all to see Little Man growing and feel as though you're here watching with us, so I'm going to set a new goal to update the blog once a week. Here we go...

Oliver loves dinner time, probably because it means bath time is right around the corner.
He's been wanting to feed himself more lately, which ends up a little messy.
He obviously loves green beans! :)
We've been trying to keep track of what we give him lately. We got the results back from his allergy test and he's pretty allergic to eggs and a little allergic to wheat(gluten). So, the doctor told us to avoid eggs completely, but not worry about gluten until we meet with her for his one year appointment where she'll set us up with an allergist. So far we haven't had any breakouts, yay!

This is all of Oliver's new tricks in one video!
 Hooray!!
This picture also looks very similar to another move Oliver has recently mastered. I like to call it the "limp noodle." Basically, if he's doing something he's not supposed to be doing and Mom comes along to move him, then he throws his arms up and goes as limp and noodley as possible to try to escape Mom's grasp. At first it was occasionally successful, but now Mom's gotten a little faster.

One of his bigger outfits. I can't believe he fits into 12 mths already, and is on his way to the next size! He loves his car, I find it everywhere!

I've never seen a baby so in love with books. He will sit and look through his books all by himself for 20 or 30 minutes. We try to go to the library often so he can pick out a couple new ones.

I love this, he fell asleep the other day with his bum in the air, so cute!

Just some fun videos after we got back from the park last night.

Other than playing with Oliver, Mike's work, and spending some time with friends, things are pretty quiet around here. I set a goal a couple weeks ago to finish my 90 Day Workout Challenge by the end of the month, and I'm about to complete that goal. I'm so happy with how it went! I also set a goal to be able to run a 5k by the end of the month, and I reached that goal last week, which felt really great! Mike's just getting ready for school to start back up again and keeping up with work. He's been trying to get out of the house to golf at least once a week, and that's been great. He says he's getting better and the exercise is nice, since he walks the course with his clubs. Thank you again for the nice birthday presents for Mike that have let him get the golfing in!

The Lizard, Round 2

One thing I am still leary of here in Louisiana is the critters. They're everywhere! Crickets the size of your head, cockroaches infesting almost every building, and lizards everywhere. I don't mind critters when they're outside, I even enjoying checking out the giant crickets at the Swamp Center, but I don't really appreciate it when they're in my home. I'm a little squeamish that way. We're so blessed to have a good manager who sprays regularly, so except for a couple medium-sized spiders, the cockroach that came back from the beach with us, and that little lizard from last fall, we haven't had any critters inside. It figures that just when I start to let my guard down...
One night last week I lost my phone. I was searching the living room for it and thought it might have fallen down in the couch. Against my better judgement, I simply stuck my hand down the side of the cushion and started to dig around. I felt something hard, but not phone shaped, so I dug it out. I pulled out a dead, smushed, dried-up lizard. I of course scream, dropped it, walked across the room, and began to laugh so hard I almost couldn't stand up! Oh my heck, poor little lizard! Mike got pictures, he was cracking up! So nasty.

Oliver 8-10 Months

Oliver's just been growing like a weed, here are some pictures to prove it!

He can now see over the top of his crib, which is so cute. I love waking up to those big blue eyes!

These two videos are from when he was learning to stand and crawl on his hands and knees, not just scoot around. Now he can buzz around so fast, and gets up and down with help from just about anything!
He loves his sippy and walker.
Just checking out the pots and pans cupboard. Now I come in to find all the pots and pans out and Little O inside sometimes.
First time eating celery, I think it's one of his favorites. He likes to munch on the stalk until the juice is gone, then he's done.

Played so hard he fell asleep...
The video is when he learned to clap.
This one is his new big boy car seat, since he got too tall for his old one. I can't believe my boy is that big! When we were in the Dr.'s office today, she asked how old he is and I said, "10 months." She couldn't believe it, she asked me if I was sure, because she was sure he was at least 15 months!

This boy LOVES to swim! This is him in his cute reusable swim diaper I found. We love it!

Mom and Little O swimming. He's starting to kick and loves just moving around in the water. If I put him sitting on the side, then he "jumps" in to me. He also doesn't mind dunking with Dad too much! If I put him on his back with the back of his head on my shoulder then he relaxes and almost floats. He must have a little Fisher blood in him!

I've been teaching several of the kids in our ward to swim, so Little Man and I get the chance to go swimming pretty frequently. It's pretty much the only activity you can stand to do outside in the afternoon because of the heat.
The video is his way of pushing the button on his walker to make it sing. He likes it when I sing along, so sorry about the horrible vocals!

Just woke up in this picture, and playing with one of his favorite toys, a golf ball. He must take after his Dad a little, too. :)
He's such a smiley boy, I love it! He has a couple more teeth now, too. He now has 2 on top with 2 more coming in, and 3 on bottom with 2 more coming in.

I opened the fridge to get something out and turned around to find this! He's so quick sometimes! He mostly just checked everything out and got out a jar of baby food. Silly boy!

This is from the 4th of July. We had fun at a pancake breakfast our Ward put on that morning, and then Mike had to go to work. Oliver and I just had fun and went swimming in the afternoon. That evening we jumped in the car as soon as Mike got home from work so we could try to catch the firework show, but it ended while we were on our way, so Oliver missed it. Oh well, he'll probably enjoy it a lot more next year anyway. He fell asleep when we got stuck in traffic on our way home and this is him when we got out of the car. He's such a sweet boy!
The first video is Oliver at the park. We are now frequenters of the park on days when Dad is working in the evening. I love that he can check everything out without getting into trouble and get all worn out and ready for bed, it's the greatest! He's really starting to get better at walking with help, like you can see with the little cozy coup!
The second video is his first cookie, and one of his new signs. He now asks for more with his hand, yay!

After he finished the cookie, I noticed that around his mouth was really red, a little swollen, and had hives. This has happened several other times, and we've been trying to figure out what's causing it. We pretty much have it pin-pointed to eggs we think, so we've been more wary about what we give him to try. We also took him in to the Dr. today to ask her about it. She suggested we take him in to get allergy tested since it's pretty genetic with all the things Mike was allergic to when he was young and the allergies in my family. They weren't able to get any blood today, so we're hoping to pump him full of liquids and take him back in Friday morning. Hopefully it goes better then.

His new trick is crawling around with something in his mouth, he thinks it's so cool!
Some clapping, what a silly baby!

Grandma Fisher and Aunt Lindsay's Visit

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything!
In June Mom and Lindsay came to visit and we had so much fun with them while they were here! Most of the time we took pictures on our phones, so I don't have many pictures to share here, but I'll show the ones we got.

We picked them up from the airport in New Orleans and headed to the New Orleans Art Museum. It's such a neat museum, and I think they enjoyed it. Lindsay really loved the sculpture garden outside, even though it was so hot! Here she is by a sculpture called "Karma."
On one of the sculptures she found a lizard, and chased him around it for awhile until he ran away.

Oliver loved having them here and spending time with them. He and Lindsay played so much, it was awesome. He loved cuddling with Grandma Fisher and having storytime with her.

We made a little trip down to Avery Island and toured the Tobasco Factory, which was really neat. They taught us all about how to make Tobasco. Then, we headed down to the coast and swam in the Gulf of Mexico. We took some pictures with our phones down there. It was fun to get in the warm water, and Oliver enjoyed the sand.

Then next day, after we took our towels out to wash them, we found this huge cockroach in the bathroom. We think he must have come home from the beach with us, since we haven't had any before or since! He was so fast, Mom and Mike caught him in a tupperware let him out in the parking lot.

Oliver and Aunt Lindsay all ready for church. Thanks for the new cute outfit Great-Grandma Lindsay. I know you can't see it very well in this picture, I'll try to get a better one next time he wears it. Everyone at church thought Lindsay was so cute!

Lindsay got a picture of Mom and Mike cooking us some dinner.

Sunday night we took a drive around town and stopped so Lindsay could meet Mike the Tiger, LSU's mascot. He was really active, which was so neat!

We'd never seen him in the water before, and he got in several times while we were there.

I think Mike the Tiger was Lindsay's favorite part of the whole trip!

On Monday we took a walk along the levee to see what was there.

We got to see a steamboat and Lindsay is positive she saw an alligator. :)

The tall building is the Capitol Building. We walked around it a bit, and next time they come we'll have to go take a tour.

We went back to see Mike again Monday night so Lindsay could say goodbye, but he wasn't out. She was a little sad, but did get to take some pictures on his statue.

It was so fun to have them here for almost a week and spend so much time with them! I'm so glad they could come and see Little Man. Hopefully it won't be too long before we'll make it to Idaho to see them, Oliver's been missing everyone!
