A Rich Heritage

While we're visiting my family, Oliver has been sleeping in the crib his Great-Grandpa Lindsay slept in as a baby. It was made by his Great-Great-Grandma Lindsay. What a special opportunity and a blessing to still have it in our family.

Our New Game

Oliver and I have a new game and it goes something like this:
I put two teething tablets in his mouth, under his tongue.
He smiles and pushes them out.
I push them back in, he pushes them back out...
They're now mush.
I push the mush back in and he pushes it back out until it finally absorbs into his mouth and dries all over my finger.
I can't help but smile and laugh the whole time while he smiles at me!

Our Growing Boy

Our happy baby swinging away... He loves his soft minky blanket!

Getting excited for Christmas!
He just learned to roll onto his side, so now he likes to do it often.

Oliver has a friend, she's the lady bug that hangs from his lion. We find him "talking" to her all the time, it's so cute! Here, he's apparently a little upset with her...

Tummy time and some talking.

He's getting close to rolling over, we're thinking it might happen soon...

Thanksgiving and Our Rockstar

Thanksgiving was neat here in Louisiana. It was our first one by ourselves, so Mike and I were excited to work together and make dinner. We decided to make deep fried catfish instead of turkey and it was delicious! If anyone comes to visit, we'll make some for you...
Here's our feast! It did take awhile to get through the leftovers, but it was worth it! :)

Oliver continues to grow like a weed. It seems like he grows into some new bigger outfit each day!
Here's his cute "rock star" outfit.

Family Pic

My mom needed a picture of us for the Christmas card, so here is a pretty recent family pic.

My Birthday!

Today is my birthday and I'm 23! Mike says I'm old now and he might have to take me in and get a newer model, but I'm not sure about that. Haha!
Thanks for the happy birthday wishes, it's been a nice day. :)
We went out to dinner and are now settling down to watch "The Avengers." I haven't seen it yet, but I've been wanting to, so I'm pretty excited.
Oliver and I in our new duds! Sarah gave me this cute shirt for my birthday and Kelly and Sara got the Saint's onesie for Oliver when they came to visit and he just grew into it.
Here's my birthday cake. I made it the next day and it is quite delicious, if I do say so myself!
Love you all! Have a great night!

P.S. We're also keeping up with the election... it's so close!

The Best Husband Ever...

I have one of the best straighteners ever, it's called a Solia by Folica.
This morning I was putting it away in it's heat proof pouch when I accidentally dropped it. Upon investigation I found the once oscillating cord now did not oscillate! NOOO! So, with much sadness I made my way to the living room to see if my sweet husband could fix it.
Of course the cord could not just be popped back into place. The iron needed to come apart, so he got out the tools and began to pop things apart. Then he had to undo a difficult screw by the spring, then the pin wouldn't come out, and the problems persisted.
Finally, after much perseverance, my amazing husband got it apart, the cord back in place, and back together. Plus, it works and the cord oscillates! YAY!
Thanks sweetheart, you're the best! Who knew a music major could fix a straightener?! :)

How are we growing?

Little Man is already 2 months old! We can't believe it!
This means that it's time for his 2 month appointment, which we had today.

Drum roll please...

He is 12 lbs.
and
23 1/2 in.
He's getting so big!

We think he's going to be nice and tall like his dad!

Here's a cute picture I took last week. We went down for a nap together, and this is what I got to wake up to...
Isn't it so cute?! I love the face resting on his little hand... just thought I'd share.

Halloween

Thanks to Grandma Piper and Grandma Lynnie and the cute Halloween outfits they gave us, we got to celebrate Halloween for a couple weeks!
Here's one of the cute outfits Grandma Piper gave us...

We're so glad Oliver's already pretty long, so he fit into the 3 month outfits great!

Here's the outfit Grandma Lynnie gave us. And a smile, sometimes those are still a little elusive, but getting more frequent everyday!

On Saturday we went to our ward's Halloween Party. It was lots of fun. We dressed up Oliver, he was a cute little green monster, and decorated our trunk for the Trunk-or-Treat.

Here's our little monster, I think he might be hungry...

Good thing he had the cute little beanie, it was chilly for the first time that night!
These are the ghosts I made to decorate our trunk with. We pinned them up so they looked like the were flying, it was cute!
On Halloween, Little Man was first a monster, then a monkey...
What an adorable monkey! :)

Thanks for the cute Halloween costumes Grandma Piper!
Happy Halloween!

A Lizard?!

One morning last week I woke up to find a lizard in our bathroom! I was so stunned and sleepy that I couldn't think of what to do before he scuttled under the door to the water heater closet. Usually I'm pretty tough when dealing with small creatures, but a small reptilian creature? Apparently not, because I had this silly fear of the little guy! Mike was at school until afternoon, so I shoved a bath mat under the door to block the lizard in until he got home to take care of it.
Mike found out that they just come in sometimes as the weather starts to cool off, and if you just whack them with a newspaper it stuns them so you can take them outside. So, after he got home we unbarred the door and waited for our lizard friend to come out of hiding. Mike then caught him in the dustpan and let him go outside. It was quite the eventful day!
I couldn't bear the thought of him scuttling across my baby, so Oliver took his nap in the swing that day.

Here he is. He changed color depending on his background.

Here he is after Mike let him go outside. He looked a little smaller when Mike caught him then he did when I saw him in the bathroom that morning, lol!

Dad and Overalls

Dad napping with Little Man, or Little Man with Dad, which is it?
One of his favorite places to nap, on Dad. :)
Little Man loves his Dad. They play and talk all the time, and he's always happy when Dad gets home from school or work. Two of their favorite things are tummy time and bath time!

Everyone needs a good pair of overalls!

We're getting so long...
Our neighbor in Idaho gave us these cute overalls and he looks so big in them! They are so cute on him, I just love them.

Smiles...

Almost...

There's a sweet little smile!

Uncle Kelly and Aunt Sara

At the beginning of October Uncle Kelly and Aunt Sara came to visit. We mostly caught up and stayed out of the heat, but we did visit the Botanical Gardens and the Mall of Louisiana. It was so fun to have them!

Oliver loved Uncle Kelly and playing with him for a couple days.

He also loved Aunt Sara and spending time with her!
Thanks so much for coming to visit us, it was so good to see both of you. We're excited to see you again at Christmastime!

One Month Old!

Oliver is one month old today and we can't believe it's gone by so fast!

Here you can hear some of the cute noises he's been making and see him awake and moving.
Here you can see him during tummy time, which he's actually been really liking contrary to how it may appear in the video! :)

Oliver Michael Mitchell- A Day in the Life

Good morning little Olie!

Here he is after he ate today, he's just stretching out...

Here we are in the waiting room at the doctor's office. No one else was in this waiting room, so we got him out of the car seat.

Sleeping in the car seat on the way to his first doctor's appointment.

In the car waiting for mom, who of course forgot something and had to go back in.

First time with the bath hoodie on. What a cute duck!

Bath time!

He loved being rubbed down with some lotion and smelled so nice!

Getting ready to go to the doctor.

The nurse measuring him.

Summer 2011

I'm so behind, but here's a quick view of what we've been up to...
Last summer Mike and I stayed in Rexburg most of the summer and worked. I was a Night Audit for the Ameritel Inn in IF and Mike was Maintenance for the Sleep Inn in IF.

One thing we did make it to Bear Lake for  was Sarah's graduation...
It was so fun and neat to visit my family and see her graduate.
Getting ready for graduation. I have such a gorgeous sister! :)

This picture pretty much sums the four of us up, haha!
Mom, Sarah, Austin, Grandma Lindsay, and Lindsay Rose came to visit during the 4th of July.
We went to the pancake breakfast in Rexburg and saw the parade. Later that day we visited the booths they had and we convinced mom to ride the mechanical bull after Austin got done, it was so funny!
We also went to Tautphaus Zoo in Idaho Falls, Lindsay loved all the animals!

For Mike's birthday, we went to Heber with Mom and Grandma and Grandpa Lindsay and rode the "Heber Creeper," an old train that you can take rides on. Mike is really interested in trains, so it was neat to get to ride on an old one and see some train yards.
A couple days before school started up again, Sarah came up to move in to her apartment. Lindsay was so sad she was leaving, so Sarah brought her to stay and go to college for a couple days. It was so fun! She's probably the first 4-yr-old to start in college instead of kindergarten, lol!

As you can see, it was a great summer. We got to do a lot of fun things between our work schedules, and also prepared for our last year of college.
